Palermo - Monreale

Your English speaking driver-guide will be waiting for you as you disembark in the port of Messina. Drivers will be holding a sign with your name on it, so there is no way to miss him! We highly recommend leaving the port as soon as possible to avoid traffic and better enjoy your time. You will be picked up at 8:00 am.

This tour is meant for travelers who really want to enjoy of a Mediterranean capital in its full splendour, crossed by elegant streets and luxurious shops.

Palermo is the capital and main city of Sicily, and it is located at the shores of the Tyrrhenian Sea and surrounded by the 'Conca D’oro Mountains'. You will start your day, walking around medieval Palermo, featuring traces of its Baroque and Arabian-Norman period.

You will visit 'Piazza Pretoria' and its beautiful Renaissance fountain 'Quattro Canti' located at the heart of the city, and the 'Magnificent Cathedral of San Cataldo' , after which you will continue on foot to visit 'San Giovanni degli Eremiti', one of the most renowned Norman monuments, built by Roger II and the 'Palazzo dei Normanni'.

From there, you will visit the village of Monreale, accessed by driving along a wonderful road overlooking the 'Conca D’Oro' Valley. You will also visit the magnificent 'Duomo of Monreale' and the 'Chiostro dei Cappuccini'.

If time allows, you may be able to visit the famous open market 'Vucciria' or 'Il Capo' – the Cappuccini Catacombs- , and the Zisa Castle. Note that we are be very flexible with our itinerary so, upon your request we will shorten up your visit to Palermo, so you can spend more time in the town of Cefalù.

You will be returning to the port at 3:30pm, on time for boarding your ship.
